The Indian Ocean crashes against the rocks below while you sit with a cup of Ceylon tea and finally, finally exhale.

Galle works particularly well after completing the southern Buddha Trail sites—after the Japanese Peace Pagoda, after Unawatuna's temple, after days of sacred walking. This is not a place of activities. It is a place of walking through Victoria Park, driving past tea pickers on misty hillsides, sitting wrapped in a shawl while rain patters outside. When someone in your family has been pushing through heat exhaustion without complaint, bring them here. The relief is immediate and the recovery is real.
